1043. 🇮🇪 Busy Philatelic Summer Ahead For Ireland.

🇮🇪 In addition to the single stamp mentioned in Blog 1042 which commemorated the Women's Rugby World Cup being held in Ireland later this summer, An Post, has revealed the other stamps it plans to issue during a busy Irish philatelic summer.
Four stamps in a se-tenant block and 1 miniature sheet will depict Irish railway stations.  Those shown on the stamps are Heuston Station in Dublin, Clarke Station at Dundalk, Ment Station in Cork and Bagenalstown station. The issue was designed by WorkGroup and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 13.5. Rating:- *****.

A single stamp will be issued on 27 July 2017 to commemorate the Centenary of the death of the Irish First World War poet, Francis Ledwidge. The stamp was designed by Detail and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 14 x 14.5. Rating:- ***.
Collectors of "Birds on stamps" will like this stamp because it includes the depiction of a blackbird in its design because Ledwidge, killed at the Third Battle of Ypres, was known as " The poet of the Blackbird".

A single stamp will be released on 10 August 2017 to commemorate the Centenary of the birth of John Mary "Jack" Lynch, a former Irish prime minister. The stamp was designed by Vermillion Design and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 14 x 14.5. Rating:- ***.

Another single stamp will be issued on 7 September 2017 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of free secondary education in Ireland. The issue was designed by Ger Garland from a photograph by Alan Betson and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 13.5. Rating:- **.

On 14 September 2017 two stamps and 1 miniature sheet will be released to commemorate the National Ploughing Championships. The attractive issue was designed by Ger Garland and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 13.5. Rating:- ****.

Finally 4 stamps will be issued on 21 September 2017 on the subject of "Urban Street Art". This vaguely interesting issue follows on from a similar set issued earlier this year by Australia Post. The issue was designed by Aad and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 14 x 14.5. Rating:- ****.

🇱🇰 Sri Lanka Post issued a pair of stamps on 13 July 2017 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Ceylon Tea. The issue was designed by DG Sudath Jayawardena and printed in lithography. Rating:- ***.

    1. Hello Stewie1911. It appears that the standard domestic letter rate for items up to 100g within Ireland rose on 13 April 2017 from 72c to €1 while the standard international rate up to 100g rose from €1.10 to €1.35c. So most commemoratives will now be €1 face value I suppose.
